Vacant pieces of land turn into slums overnight. Dharavi prime
example of that.
1 out of 2 people in Mumbai live in a slum.
People sit on streets because there is no room in their homes.
Generally room to sleep and no more.
Need some sort of equity in the huge discrepancy in income.
Bombay is mixed in terms of religion. Welcomes everyone. Always been
an inclusive society. Unique factor.
Accepting unique Mumbai characteristics. It is a hodge podge.
Local politicians becoming more sectarian All about defining
individuals by religion or birthplace. Becoming less and less tolerant
of women.
Developers Interest in rebuilding Dharavi because the value of the
land is so high. Not to provide better living conditions for residents.
